Mahlik Motorsports is very grateful for the people that help them race every weekend and would not be able to achieve success without them.

Larry Chard

With nearly 30 years of experience in building race engines, all-around mechanical expertise and drag and stock car racing, Larry Chard brings plenty of experience as the Crew Chief to the Mahlik Motorsports team.

Larry adds racing experience and success to the team, having raced for 13 years in the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) division, winning numerous events and one championship in the Pro Stock class.

In 1996, Chard switched his focus to stock car racing, joining  King Racing as Crew Chief and engine builder, helping lead the team to five top-ten finishes in six years finishing in second place for the points championship.

After starting Midnite Motors, a competitive race engine building business, Chard joined Stroker Racing in 2001as Crew Chief and engine builder.  Under his leadership, Stroker Racing finished 5th and 2nd in the Wisconsin International Raceway (WIR) Limited Late Model Championship, setting the track record for the most wins in a year by a late model driver and winning one-third of all races they competed in.  Stroker Racing also won Most Improved Driver and the Best Appearing Car Award with Chard at the helm, helping launch the team into the American Stockcar Association (ASA) racing series the following year.

Chard then made a switch to NPR Motorsports, joining the team as Crew Chief and engine builder.  Under his leadership, the young NPR team won its first late model race and built a series of consistent top-five finishes.

In 2004, Chard merged the engine building business and race team into Midnite Motorsports, offering development and repair in all aspects of a racecar.  Midnite Motorsports participated in the ASA Late Model Series, running every race in the series and finishing a competitive 16th of 89 teams contending for the points championship.

In 2005, Midnite Motorsports and Mahlik Motorsports joined forces to run a two-car team in the ASA Late Model Series.  The new joint venture was successful in fielding both cars at most races and running competitively.

At the base of his successful teams is Chard’s mechanical expertise.  He has 26 years of experience building award- and championship-winning engines and racecars, as well as successful modification of shock and spring setups, electrical, braking, clutch and body installation.  In addition, Chard has assisted the Fox River Racing Club (FRRC) in creating and clarifying its rules for all divisions.
